For over 100 years, Family Service Association has been a presence in South Jersey. From the early grassroots efforts to today's highly diversified services, the Agency has strategically focused on the needs in our community today, while at the same time, recognizing changing needs and responding to build a healthier tomorrow.
Our work with children, families and adults is an investment in the future of our community which is nurtured by our Board of Trustees, our consumers, our dedicated staff, devoted volunteers and you, our generous supporters.
Thank You!
We are investing in a future that is filled with hope, whether it is through directly caring for a child, or helping abused and neglected children in a family as they learn that the cycle of abuse can be broken.
Today, as we look toward the future, we are confident that we have laid a secure foundation. We will continue to be there and to open doors to a future of hope through excellent service! Thank you for sharing our vision, for your commitment to our work and for helping us “strengthen individuals and families” since 1909!

Community Impact
Don’t wait give back now. Get Involved!
A child might not have someone available to help them with homework after school. No one would be available to clean up your local park or to serve food to the homeless. Your elderly grandmother would have no one to read to her in the nursing home.
Volunteers are one of our country’s most important assets. About 248 people volunteered throughout our organization last year, according to Volunteer office numbers. That represents more than 21,000 hours of community service performed
The estimated dollar value of a volunteer’s time is $20.85 per hour, according to the Independent Sector, a nonpartisan coalition of charities, foundations and corporate giving programs. 21,000 hours X $20.85= $487,350 (WOW) the Board of Directors, Staff and Administration would like to thank the entire volunteer group who contributed to this amassing feat.
-
Why should I volunteer?
-
To invest in your community
-
To increase personal sense of self-worth and general well-being
-
To gain personal satisfaction and leadership experience
These are just a few of the many reasons people choose to volunteer. Volunteers of all ages and walks of life agree that by giving, they receive a great deal more. Every day, in every corner of our Service Delivery area, volunteers are working to create a better world ... touching the lives of people in need and solving community problems.
However, finding a volunteer position can seem as intimidating, overwhelming and confusing as seeking paid employment. And, just like a job search, the search for a fulfilling volunteer position consists of many steps. Family Service Association’s Volunteer Office acts as a first contact point for volunteers and can assist you with finding the right match within our agency.
