PROGRAM OBJECTIVE:
To help low-income people become economically self-sufficient. The program provides a structure of incentives and supports for working families of limited means. Participants increase their economic self-sufficiency through financial literacy training and asset accumulation. Assets include the following: home ownership, small business development or expansion, education and training to improve employment prospects.
POPULATION CURRENTLY SERVED
Low-income families residing in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, and Southern Ocean counties; and high school students enrolled in Family Service Association’s (FSA) School Based Services (SBS) program at the Pleasantville High School.

SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED
IDA participants receive access to this program by means of wide spread community marketing throughout the four service areas. Eligible participants receive one-on-one budget and credit counseling, 16 hours of basic financial literacy training, and up to 9 hours of asset specific training. IDA participants open a special savings account, where they establish a regular pattern of savings. Participants that complete all requirements of the program are eligible to receive a dollar-for-dollar match on their savings, (up to a specified amount) to be used to purchase their productive asset.
SBS IDA participants also choose a savings goal and receive financial literacy training, along with opening a special savings account or contributing volunteer hours.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday through Thursday: 8am to 9pm EST
Friday: 9am to 5pm EST
